Join the High Museum in Atlanta for an engaging workshop focused on the technical and material properties of paint as it interacts with various mediums and surfaces. The session will kick off with a brief visit to the exhibition Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys, where participants will closely examine Esther Mahlangu’s abstract paintings, exploring her materials and techniques.
Following this exploration, attendees will return to the studio to craft their own color patterns inspired by geometric and free-form shapes drawn from observation or imagination. In the studio setting, participants will delve into color mixing, paint application, and layering techniques to create their own abstract artworks using acrylic paint. They will have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of surfaces, including wood panels and canvas, employing diverse acrylic paint applications and mediums to develop vibrant and engaging compositions.
Under the expert guidance of instructor Daniel Mantilla, participants will share their completed works at the conclusion of the workshop, fostering a collaborative and creative environment. Don’t miss this chance to immerse yourself in the art-making process at the High Museum!
