Saturdays at 10 a.m.: Guests are invited to the Fuqua Conservatory lobby at the Atlanta Botanical Garden to observe the frogs in action as they are presented with their meals. An amphibian specialist will be on hand to share fascinating facts and answer questions about these captivating creatures.
The public frog feedings provide visitors with the opportunity to witness one of the most intriguing aspects of these amphibians – their feeding behaviors. Most frogs possess long, sticky tongues that rapidly extend to catch their prey. Some, such as Poison frogs, demonstrate an incredible speed and accuracy that makes it seem as though flies simply vanish. Others, like the fringed leaf frog, showcase dramatic feeding techniques, using their hands to stuff crickets into their mouths.
