Saturdays at 10 a.m.: Visitors are invited to drop by the Fuqua Conservatory lobby at the Atlanta Botanical Garden to watch as the frogs jump into action when presented with their meals. An amphibian specialist will be on hand to share fun facts and answer questions about these captivating creatures.
Public frog feedings allow attendees to observe one of the most interesting aspects of these amphibians – their feeding behaviors. Most frogs possess long sticky tongues that shoot out at prey. Some, like Poison frogs, can execute this with such incredible speed and accuracy that all onlookers notice only flies disappearing. Others, such as the fringed leaf frog, are dramatic feeders, stuffing crickets into their mouths with their hands.
