By Katori Hall
Directed by Tinashe Kajese-Bolden
The Mountaintop is a powerful reimagining of events on the night before the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Set on April 3, 1968, the play unfolds as Dr. King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel after a significant speech. The arrival of a mysterious young woman, Camae, leads to a blend of humorous and deep conversations, ultimately confronting King with his legacy. The Olivier Award-winning play, described as “audacious [and] inventive” by Associated Press, presents an intimate view of a pivotal leader, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Katori Hall. Directed by Alliance Theatre’s Jennings Hertz Artistic Director Tinashe Kajese-Bolden.
