Come hear all five levels of the Georgia Boy Choir as they offer an unforgettable holiday concert. You’ll be mesmerized by the transcendent Georgia Boy Choir sound as they perform sacred classics, Christmas carols, and all your holiday favorites in the magnificent sanctuary of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church in Buckhead. Accompanied by a full orchestra and The Mighty Mander Organ of PRUMC, this concert is not to be missed!

Christmas show  December 15 – 17  (8 p.m.)     A Christmas Tradition  at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre.  This December, The Strand will return with its most elaborate and well-loved show of the year, A Christmas Tradition. This song and dance revue will show off The Strand’s awe inspiring sets and effects like has never been seen before, as well as the diva voices and high energy dances that Strand patrons have come to know and love.  Songs spotlighted include Christmas and holiday classics as well as funky favorites.   A Christmas Tradition is guaranteed to make the entire family dance, clap, and enjoy the spirit of the holidays – from Santa-loving six year olds to out of town in-laws!
  5. Children’s theater  December 15 – 31  Heidi is the classic story of a Swiss girl who lives in the Alps with her grandfather and must travel to the big city, at Synchronicity Theatre.
  6. Celtic concert December 16 at 8:00 & December 17 at 3:00    Celtic Christmas features fiddlers, dancers, singers, and a harpist from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Appalachia at Rialto Center for the Arts.  “Celtic Christmas enchants with its powerful combination of Irish, Scottish, Welsh and Appalachian music, dance and poetry.”

 

 

Three Great Theater Productions to Catch This Weekend

Rialto Center of the Arts    presents The Hunchback of Notre Dame – Ends the 17th!  Brought to you by the Atlanta producing partners of Memphis and In the Heights.

1482.  Paris, France. Quasimodo, a deformed bell ringer in a cold, cathedral tower discovers his inner strength. A conflicted priest, Frollo, battles the specter of damnation. Phoebus, a dashing soldier shuns duty to pursue Esmeralda, a beautiful Gypsy dancer. And at every turn, a malevolent force propels each of them toward fate. This musical retelling of the beloved medieval love story features a lush score by Alan Menken (Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast) and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin) — the only stage collaboration between the two giants of the American musical theatre.

 

Marietta’s New Theater on the Square     presents The Glass Managerie by Tennessee Williams is the haunting story of an overbearing mother, her poetic son, and shy daughter, living lives of illusion in the Depression.  Runs through October 1st.

 

Roswell Cultural Arts Center presents The Jungle Book is about a boy raised by wolves who sets out on an adventure through the jungle with the help of his animal friends and teaches lessons in loyalty, courage, integrity, and persistence. Shows Sept.  16, 23, and 30.
