Theater This Week

  1. Baby When I Used To Love You Stage Play Mark SQuared Studios 1804 Montreal Court Tucker  (Fri, Nov 17  8:00 PM –Sat, Nov 18  10:00 PM)   M.C. Walker presents…  A coming of age love story for a rebellious spirited young woman. Healing from her past, chasing her future, and looking towards tomorrow with her beloved.
  2. Two Gentlemen of Verona  Artios Academies of Sugar Hill  shows start Friday, November 17 at 11:00 am   Two Gentlemen of Verona” is one of Shakespeare’s classic love comedies. Lots of fools, bandits, mistaken identities, spurned love, unrequited love, and even a dog! Adapted by Jeff Stegall, this production is about an hour in length and brilliantly demonstrates the zany side of Shakespeare.
  3. The Gift of the Magi (November 16 – Dec. 3) Based on a classic novel, and set in 1950s Atlanta is about a young couple that despite poverty demonstrates true love and sacrifice, at Theatre in the Square, Marietta.
  4. Christmas Canteen  (November 16 – Dec. 23) is a variety show with sketch comedy, theatrical numbers, and singing galore at Aurora Theatre.

  1. Twelfth Night   (November 9 – 26, 2017)   A shipwreck, separated identical twins, mistaken identities, romance, revenge and one pair of yellow stockings…welcome to Orsino’s court and the zany world of Twelfth Night. a gender-bending comedy  at Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse.
  2.  A Christmas Story: The Musical  (November 10 – 12, 2017)  Based on the popular film the production follows the adventures of Ralphie, a boy who only wants a BB gun to make his life complete at Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre.
  3. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer  (November 7 – Dec. 31, 2017)  is a puppet version of the classic TV show at the Center for Puppetry Arts.

Things that Go Bump  October 30, 2017 (7:30 to 10 p.m.) at OnStage Atlanta in Decatur.


Come and get your spooky on. A collection of spine-tingling short plays, monologues, and songs to tickle your funny bone and quicken your pulse.  Atlanta’s best local actors and singers are celebrating the spooky fall season, under the leadership of local playwright Daniel Guyton.  As well as musical performances by Alice Reed, Kathy Buraczynski, Jana Cummiskey, Courtney Loner, Bennett Walton, Dan Bauman, Alli Lingenfelter.

September 8th -10th – Sychronicity Theatre

Come out for the 12th Annual Atlanta International Documentary Film Festival. Spotlighting powerful and meaningful life stories, this festival features independent documentary films from around the globe.

September 9th and 10th – Earl Smith Strand Theatre


Held in the Earl Smith Strand Theater on beautiful Marietta Square each year, the Marietta International Film Festival is an opportunity for film makers of all levels to share their work. This year the festival will be screening 72 films.

In 2016, the Marietta International Film Festival began a partnership with Film Racing and includes the screenings and Awards Gala for the 24 Hour Film Race as part of the festival and beginning with the 2017 Festival, the MIFF will begin a partnership with the Chinese American Film Festival and will be the East Coast hub for screenings of the winning Chinese films.

September 9th – Candler Park

Family friendly Flick-Nic begins with “picnic festivities and music” an hour before dusk in Candler Park.

Plays in a Day Festival


Students perform a set of plays that, 24 hours before, didn’t exist. Within a single day, Students write, direct, rehearse, tech and perform 6 completely new and original works of theatre. Come see what caffeine fueled creativity generates in the minds of young artists. One time performance at Perimeter College Clarkston Campus, Building F, August 26th at 8pm.
