Saturdays at 10 a.m.: Visitors can observe the frogs in action during their meal times at the Fuqua Conservatory lobby of the Atlanta Botanical Garden. An amphibian specialist will be present to share interesting facts and field questions regarding these intriguing creatures.
Public frog feedings provide an opportunity to witness one of the most fascinating behaviors of these amphibians – their feeding techniques. Most frogs utilize long, sticky tongues to catch prey. Some species, such as Poison frogs, exhibit remarkable speed and precision, making it appear as though flies vanish instantly. Others, like the fringed leaf frog, demonstrate dramatic feeding behaviors by using their hands to stuff crickets into their mouths.
