Blooming Insights: Jim Sawgrass at the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Seedling Showcase!

The Atlanta Botanical Garden presents a series of live performances featuring some of Atlanta’s most beloved children’s musicians and storytellers. Shows take place Fridays, May through September at 10 and 10:45 a.m.

Jim Sawgrass, a native Floridian of Muscogee Creek (Mvskoke) descent, is a living historian of the southeastern tribes of Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. He served on the Florida Indian Council from 1991-1995 and has been sharing his knowledge of the Southeastern Native American tribes for over 30 years. Jim has performed at various venues, including schools, universities, Pow Wows, state and national parks, Walt Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and numerous other events and festivals across the country.

Attendance is free with Garden Membership or Admission; no show reservations are required.


  • This program is located on the Great Lawn under the shade of the elm trees.
  • Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket or ground cover, as the grass can be damp in the morning.
  • A program greeter will be available on the Great Lawn starting 10 minutes before each session.

The event may be canceled or moved indoors if rain, cold temperatures, or inclement weather make outdoor programming impractical. To check the status, guests can email classes@atlantabg.org.

Shows for Seedlings is designed for children accompanied by an adult.
