Dinosaur Plaza
Fernbank’s Dinosaur Plaza includes a variety of features, offering ample outdoor space with a fountain, plants, trees, and flowers.
The centerpiece of the plaza is a family of bronze dinosaurs, poised to greet visitors—many of whom are families—as they arrive at the museum. The dinosaurs represent a hadrosaur species known as Lophorhothon atopus, which once inhabited the region now known as Georgia.
Fernbank stands out as the first museum to ever create a display of Lophorhothon atopus. The sculptures are part of an outdoor exhibit, which contains information about the dinosaurs, their prehistoric environment, and their inferred behaviors, including the care they provided for their young.
