Saturdays at 10 a.m.: Visitors are invited to the Fuqua Conservatory lobby at the Atlanta Botanical Garden to observe the frogs as they come to life during feeding time. An amphibian specialist will be present to share intriguing facts and answer questions about these fascinating creatures.
The public frog feedings provide an opportunity for guests to witness one of the most remarkable aspects of amphibians – their feeding behaviors. Most frogs utilize long, sticky tongues that extend swiftly to catch prey. Some species, such as Poison frogs, demonstrate incredible speed and accuracy, making it seem as though flies simply vanish. Others, like the fringed leaf frog, engage in more theatrical feeding methods, using their hands to stuff crickets into their mouths.
