Each month, the High Museum’s Learning and Civic Engagement department highlights community organizations, initiatives, and individuals that support the museum’s mission to foster creativity and civic connection across Atlanta. For this month, the focus is on Live Thrive.
Live Thrive is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to promoting a healthy and sustainable environment. Since its establishment in 2010, Live Thrive and its primary program, the Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM), encourage reuse and divert thousands of tons of household hazardous waste and other difficult-to-recycle items from homes, water supplies, and landfills. In 2024, Live Thrive’s CHaRM Atlanta and CHaRM DeKalb initiatives collectively reused, recycled, and reengineered more than 1,912,393 pounds of paint and chemicals, 560,000 pounds of cardboard, and over 5.7 million pounds of materials in total.
