Join the Conversation at the High Museum in Atlanta
The High Museum of Art in Atlanta invites participants to engage in a casual yet thoughtful dialogue that connects art and spiritual practice. Scheduled for 12:00 and 1:00 p.m., this enriching conversation brings together a faith, spiritual, or contemplative practitioner with a member of the High staff to explore a selected work of art and its potential for fostering deeper reflection on contemplative practices.
This month’s discussion features Dr. Ralph Basui Watkins, a distinguished scholar known as the "scholar with a camera." He serves as a professor of evangelism and church growth at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. Dr. Watkins is the author of several influential books, including From Jay-Z to Jesus and The Future of the African American Church: An Invitation to Dialogue. Additionally, he hosted the television program Talk it Out with Dr. Ralph Watkins, which aired on Atlanta Interfaith Broadcasting network from 2012 to 2016. With a focus on arts-based research, Watkins operates at the intersection of spirituality, photography, documentary film, and social justice. He holds a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh, a DMin from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and an MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design.
