For over three decades, Dutch fashion artists Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren have navigated the intersection of haute couture and art. Self-identified as fashion artists, they challenge traditional boundaries between clothing and artistic expression with their unconventional creations. Viktor & Rolf are renowned for their exceptional technical prowess, innovative and thought-provoking design philosophy, and extensive knowledge of fashion and its history.
Currently, The High Museum in Atlanta hosts the first dedicated exhibition of their work in the United States, representing the inaugural project funded by the Lauren Amos Fashion Project. This exhibition showcases more than one hundred of Viktor & Rolf’s most daring and avant-garde pieces, complemented by videos, sketches, dolls, and photographs that reveal their creative process. Their collections typically originate from abstract concepts, with each stage of conceptual and technical development tailored towards the final presentation—the fashion show. Unlike traditional runway events, their shows transform into immersive performances where they serve as storytellers, directors, and participants. By blending disparate elements and pushing the boundaries of imagination, Viktor & Rolf create uniquely captivating designs.
