Join the monthly weekend pinball tournament at My Parent’s Basement!
Entry fee is $5 plus additional funds for games. Participants can register from 11:30 to 11:55 am, with the first round kicking off at 12:00 pm noon. This event is IFPA endorsed for WPPR points.
This month, they’re introducing a slightly different strikes format. Instead of the usual 0/1/2/3 progressive strikes, the tournament will feature 0/1/1/2 fair strikes.
The format is a fair strikes knockout. Players will compete in groups of 3 or 4, earning between 0 and 2 strikes each round. Once a player accumulates 8 strikes, they will be eliminated from future rounds, but everyone is guaranteed to play at least 4 rounds.
For groups of four: 1st place gets 0 strikes, 2nd and 3rd place each receive 1 strike, and 4th place gets 2 strikes. In groups of three, 1st place receives 0 strikes, 2nd place gets 1 strike, and 3rd place earns 2 strikes. In groups of two, the 1st place player has 0 strikes while the 2nd place player receives 2 strikes.
After the first round, players will be paired with others who have a similar record (Swiss pairings). Final standings will be determined by the number of strikes and elimination order, with no finals taking place.
The game settings will be standard, either $1 per play or 3 plays for $2. The Tournament Director has the discretion to accelerate strikes or declare a sudden death final game if time becomes a factor with 4 or fewer players remaining, although they typically allow the full event to play out.
