Dave Watkins revisits Oliver Stone’s provocative 1991 political thriller JFK with a detailed review of Shout Factory’s Shout Select 4K UHD release. Starring Kevin Costner as New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison, the film explores the investigation into President John F. Kennedy’s assassination through an ambitious blend of historical drama, courtroom suspense, and political intrigue. Dave examines the film’s powerful ensemble cast, including Tommy Lee Jones, Gary Oldman, and Donald Sutherland, while reflecting on Stone’s controversial interpretation of events and the film’s lasting cultural impact. He also explores the deluxe three-disc collection, featuring both the Director’s Cut and theatrical version, and evaluates the impressive 4K restoration of a film originally photographed using multiple film formats.
