City Hall, along with the Parks & Recreation and Public Works departments, will be closed for several holidays throughout the year. These holidays include New Year’s Day (January 1), Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 15), Good Friday (March 29), Memorial Day (May 27), Juneteenth (June 19), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (September 2), Veterans Day (November 11), Thanksgiving (November 28 & 29), and Christmas (December 24 & 25).
Trash collection will be suspended only for the six specified holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. For holidays that fall on a Monday, trash and recycling routes will be delayed by one day for the entire week following those holidays. If a holiday occurs midweek, collections on the following days will also be postponed. For example, if a holiday is on Tuesday, the Tuesday routes will be collected on Wednesday, Wednesday routes will be collected on Thursday, and so on for the rest of the week. In the event that any of these holidays fall on a weekend, the collection schedule will remain unchanged.
For detailed holiday hours at the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History or Smith-Gilbert Gardens, patrons are encouraged to reach out to the Museum or Gardens directly.
Emergency services will continue to be available during these holiday closures.
