Saturdays at 10 a.m.: Visitors are invited to the Fuqua Conservatory lobby at the Atlanta Botanical Garden to witness the frogs in action during their feeding sessions. An amphibian specialist will be present to share informative insights and address any inquiries regarding these fascinating creatures.
The public frog feedings provide an opportunity to observe unique feeding behaviors exhibited by various amphibians. Most frogs possess long, sticky tongues capable of extending rapidly to capture prey. For example, Poison frogs demonstrate remarkable speed and accuracy, making it appear as though flies vanish instantaneously. In contrast, the fringed leaf frog employs a more dramatic feeding technique, using its hands to stuff crickets into its mouth.
