Bug Fest is set to take place at Fernbank Museum, where attendees can explore the incredible world of insects through hands-on activities, crafts, and learning opportunities. Participants will have the chance to engage in various scientific explorations related to insects.

This event is included with general admission, and members of the museum receive free entry.

Activities*

Orkin | Great Hall, 1st Floor & Orkin Discovery Zone, Third Floor
Attendees can participate in a bug-filled scavenger hunt within the Orkin Discovery Zone, searching for fascinating insects.


University of Georgia: H.O Lund Club | Great Hall, 1st Floor
The H.O. Lund Club offers guests the opportunity to meet live insects and examine real specimen collections, engaging in interactive insect science.


WunderGrubs | Great Hall, 1st Floor
WunderGrubs will provide a look into sustainable insect farming, featuring a live demonstration of a modular vertical mealworm farm, along with by-product displays and a mini manufacturing station.


Georgia Pest Control Association | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This organization will facilitate hands-on activities themed around insects.


Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association | Great Hall, 1st Floor
Participants can discover the significance of bees, enjoy coloring activities, observe a real hive, and learn about swarm identification.


Georgia Department of Agriculture | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This department will host bug trivia, games, opportunities to meet live insects, and provide photo opportunities with Randy the Roach.


University of Georgia Center for Urban Agriculture | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This center will allow attendees to explore preserved insect specimens and view intricate butterfly wing patterns under a microscope.


University of Georgia Department of Entomology | Great Hall, 1st Floor
The Bug Zoo, facilitated by the University of Georgia Entomology Department, will offer a chance to meet live insects up close.


University of Georgia Urban Entomology Program | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This program will present information on urban insects and distribute detailed guides on common insect pests.


Georgia Native Plant Society | Great Hall, 1st Floor
The Georgia Native Plant Society will lead an exploration into the role of insects in supporting native plant ecosystems.


The Three Profiteers | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This group will host a live presentation featuring a variety of arthropods.
