Community Bulletin: Adaptive Kayaking Program
In partnership with Catalyst Sports, an adaptive kayaking program is available to provide individuals with the opportunity to engage with nature while maximizing their independence on the water.
The program is led by instructors trained in ACA Adaptive Paddling, who can adapt kayaks with additional equipment to accommodate various needs. The facility includes a dock equipped with a ramp, transfer seat, and kayak launch to facilitate access to the river.
Eligibility Requirements: ACA Essential Eligibility Criteria for Adaptive Kayaking
Participants must meet the following criteria:
- Ability to breathe independently (no medical devices required).
- Capability to maintain sealed airway passages while under water.
- Ability to hold the head upright without neck or head support.
- Capacity to manage personal care independently or with assistance from a companion.
- Ability to manage personal mobility independently or with reasonable assistance.
- Capacity to follow instructions and communicate effectively, independently or with assistance.
