A lecture titled “The Transcontinental Railroad” will take place on Sunday, May 3, 2026, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Smyrna Library in the Meeting Room. Todd DeFeo, a board member of the Friends of Smyrna Library and publisher of Railfanning.org, will discuss the impact of the transcontinental railroad on American development and the adoption of a standard gauge.
