A Digital Learning Workshop for ages 3-8, conducted online via Zoom. Participants engage with Anansi the Spider, a West African trickster folk hero from Ghana, through pictures, music, and movement exercises. The session includes reenacting stories from Gerald McDermont’s Caldecott-winning children’s book, Anansi the Spider, and a shadow puppet short film produced by the Center for Puppetry Arts. Attendees explore cultural similarities and differences through West African foods. The workshop covers shadow puppetry techniques, features a real puppet from the Center’s collection, and includes a hands-on activity where participants build their own Anansi shadow puppet. Designed for PreK-2nd grade students, the program accommodates 35 participants and lasts 45 minutes. The cost is $185, and bookings are available on demand.
