Dinosaur Plaza
Fernbank’s Dinosaur Plaza boasts a variety of features, including ample outdoor space complete with a fountain, plants, trees, and flowers.
The plaza’s centerpiece features a family of bronze dinosaurs that are poised to greet visitors, many of whom are families themselves, as they arrive at the museum. This family includes a hadrosaur species known as Lophorhothon atopus, which once inhabited the region that is now Georgia.
Fernbank is recognized as the first museum to create a display of Lophorhothon atopus. The sculptures are part of an outdoor exhibit that offers insights into the dinosaurs, their prehistoric environment, and their inferred behaviors, including their care for their young.
