Dinosaur Plaza
Fernbank’s Dinosaur Plaza features a variety of attractions, including an expansive outdoor area with a fountain, plants, trees, and flowers.
The centerpiece of the plaza is a family of bronze dinosaurs, ready to greet visitors—many of whom are families—as they arrive at the museum. These dinosaurs represent a hadrosaur species known as Lophorhothon atopus, which once inhabited the region that is now Georgia.
Fernbank is the first museum to create a display of Lophorhothon atopus. The sculptures are part of an outdoor exhibit that includes information about the dinosaurs, their prehistoric environment, and their inferred behaviors, such as the care they provided for their young.
Visitors can head to Flickr to view special behind-the-scenes photos, along with images of the arrival and installation process.
