Ryoji Ikeda: Enter the Data-Verses at the High Museum of Art!

AEJuice I Want It All Bundle – Animation Toolkit

Ryoji Ikeda, born in 1966 in Gifu, Japan, and currently active in Paris and Kyoto, is recognized as one of the world’s leading composers and media artists. His work challenges perceptions of the universe and humanity’s place within it through innovative uses of sound, light, materials, and scientific data, creating immersive experiences that explore the unknown and the infinite. Ikeda’s captivating video projections visualize data derived from mathematical theories and quantum physics, among other fields of study.

Currently, The High Museum in Atlanta is hosting Ikeda’s first museum exhibition in the United States, titled Ryoji Ikeda: data-verse. This exhibition comprises seven chapters that explore the intersection of human comprehension limits and Ikeda’s audiovisual depictions of the infinite expanses of the universe.

The artwork featured in this exhibition offers a multisensory journey designed to refresh and renew perceptions of the universe and our relationship to it—a central theme that runs throughout Ikeda’s body of work, which he emphasizes should be experienced rather than merely analyzed.

PLEASE NOTE: The exhibition spaces are dark, and some works include loud or sudden sounds, as well as flashing lights and strobe effects. Visitors are advised to proceed with care when entering the exhibition.
