Bug Fest

Fernbank Museum will host Bug Fest, an event designed to explore the fascinating world of insects through hands-on activities, crafts, and educational experiences. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of science-based activities focused on discovery and enjoyment.
The event is included with general admission. Members of the museum will have free entry.
Activities*
Orkin | Great Hall, 1st Floor & Orkin Discovery Zone, Third Floor
Visitors can take part in a scavenger hunt in the Orkin Discovery Zone, searching high and low to discover various insects.
University of Georgia: H.O Lund Club | Great Hall, 1st Floor
Attendees will have the chance to meet live insects, explore real specimen collections, and learn about insect science in interactive ways with the H.O. Lund Club.
WunderGrubs | Great Hall, 1st Floor
The event will feature a live demonstration of a modular vertical mealworm farm, along with displays of by-products and a mini manufacturing station organized by WunderGrubs.
Georgia Pest Control Association | Great Hall, 1st Floor
Hands-on activities will be available through the Georgia Pest Control Association, engaging attendees with various bug-related experiences.
Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This segment will provide opportunities for children to enjoy coloring activities, observe a real hive up close, and learn about what to do if they encounter a swarm.
Georgia Department of Agriculture | Great Hall, 1st Floor
The Georgia Department of Agriculture will offer bug trivia games, live insect displays, and photo opportunities with Randy the Roach.
University of Georgia Center for Urban Agriculture | Great Hall, 1st Floor
Attendees can explore preserved specimens and observe the intricate patterns of butterfly wings through a microscope with the University of Georgia Center for Urban Agriculture.
University of Georgia Department of Entomology | Great Hall, 1st Floor
The University of Georgia Entomology Department will present opportunities to meet live insects up close, with options to safely hold some specimens.
University of Georgia Urban Entomology Program | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This program will provide insights into common urban insect pests along with a detailed guide that participants can take home.
Georgia Native Plant Society | Great Hall, 1st Floor
Individuals can join the Georgia Native Plant Society to learn how insects contribute to the health and vitality of native plants.
The Three Profiteers | Great Hall, 1st Floor
Participants will have the opportunity to experience a live presentation featuring a variety of arthropods presented by The Three Profiteers.
