Community Bulletin: Adaptive Kayaking Program
In partnership with Catalyst Sports, an adaptive kayaking program is available, promoting independence and an immersive experience in nature. The program features trained lead kayak instructors certified in ACA Adaptive Paddling, who can modify kayaks with additional equipment to address various needs.
The facility includes a dock equipped with a ramp, transfer seat, and kayak launch, facilitating access to the river.
Eligibility Requirements: ACA Essential Eligibility Criteria for Adaptive Kayaking
- Paddler must be able to breathe independently, without the use of medical devices.
- Paddler should be able to maintain sealed airway passages while submerged.
- Paddler must hold their head upright without support.
- Paddler must manage personal care independently or with assistance from a companion.
- Paddler should be capable of personal mobility independently or with minimal assistance.
- Paddler must be able to follow instructions and communicate effectively, either independently or with companion assistance.
