Spivey Hall is set to host an engaging concert featuring renowned tenor Ian Bostridge and pianist Julius Drake on May 8, 2027, at 3:00 PM. This esteemed duo, whose collaboration spans over thirty years, is celebrated for their remarkable interpretations and performances in prestigious concert venues worldwide.
Their program will showcase three significant song cycles by the composer Robert Schumann, composed during his prolific “Liederjahr” in 1840, which marked a pivotal moment in his life with his marriage to Clara Wieck. The pieces include Schumann’s Fünf Lieder (Hans Christian Andersen Settings), Op. 40, Liederkreis, Op. 39, and Kerner-Lieder, Op. 35.
Bostridge, a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) since 2004, is noted not just for his exquisite voice but also for his deep emotional connection to the music, making this an insightful musical experience.
