The Marietta History Center is set to showcase its impressive “Marietta History Center at 30” exhibition, marking a significant milestone for the museum. Opening on October 6, this retrospective highlights the museum’s journey since its inception in 1996, illustrating its growth into Marietta and Cobb County’s central hub for history, all within the historical Kennesaw House.
The exhibition is organized into four chronological sections that reflect the museum’s development over thirty years. It goes beyond a simple timeline, providing insights into the museum’s inner workings, the role of volunteers, and the process of integrating artifacts into the permanent collection. A special focus will be placed on the Kennesaw House itself, which has an intriguing history, originally serving as a cotton warehouse and later as the Fletcher House hotel, surviving the Civil War and the subsequent burning of Marietta.
The exhibit will run from October 6 through late Fall 2026. Admission is priced at $10 for adults, $7 for students and seniors (60+), while members, children under five, and active military personnel and veterans can enter for free.
