The High Museum of Art in Atlanta will host the national tour of Amy Sherald’s mid-career retrospective, marking the largest exhibition of her work to date. This presentation will showcase a wide range of paintings created between 2007 and 2024, including many of Sherald’s most iconic pieces as well as rarely seen works from her career.
Amy Sherald, born in Columbus, Georgia, maintains strong connections to Atlanta and the High Museum. She received her painting education in the city and is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University. In 2018, the museum honored her with the David C. Driskell Prize in African American Art and Art History, the first national recognition of its kind for African American art. The High Museum previously featured Sherald’s work during The Obama Portraits Tour in 2022, which included her celebrated portrait of former First Lady Michelle Obama.
