Created by the Chilean creative studio gt2P, Los Porfiados (The Stubborns) is currently showcased at The High Museum in Atlanta. This installation draws inspiration from the classic roly-poly wobbling toy known in Chile as the “mono porfiado.” Comprising a landscape of fourteen inflatable, flexible sculptures—some reaching up to seventeen feet tall—it invites visitors to engage with their pliable surfaces.
The sculptures will come alive through human interaction and play, transforming The High’s Carroll Slater Sifly Piazza with collective movement that explores collaboration and the construction of public space. When activated, the sculptures serve as a living metaphor for resilience, characterized not by rigidity but by adaptability—the ability to move with others, be displaced, and find balance once again. Each sculpture reacts to individual actions while contributing to a larger collective created by shared gestures. This installation reflects how public spaces are not merely designed but are enacted and shaped through presence, interaction, and communal experience.
