Adaptive Recreation Programs
The City offers recreational activities for individuals with special needs and their families. These programs are aimed at introducing participants to new experiences, building self-esteem and independence, and encouraging community engagement.
Adaptive Recreation Game Night
Date: Friday, March 20, 2026
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Location: Park Place inside Newtown Park, 3125 Old Alabama Road
Cost: Free
Activities include bocce, ladder golf, cornhole, giant Connect 4, giant Jenga, and lawn bowling. Registration can be completed on the City website. In case of rain, the event will move indoors to play bingo.
Adaptive Recreation Dance Night
Date: Saturday, August 21, 2026
Time: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Location: Mark Burkhalter Amphitheater at Newtown Park, 3150 Old Alabama Road
Cost: Free
This event features light refreshments, a DJ, glow sticks, and fun. Young adults aged 15 and older are welcome to attend alone. Registration is available on the City website.
Adaptive Recreation Movie Night
Date: Friday, October 9, 2026
Time: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Location: Mark Burkhalter Amphitheater at Newtown Park, 3150 Old Alabama Road
Cost: Free
Participants are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket for an enjoyable movie night under the stars. Registration is required on the City website.
Adaptive Recreation Lunch with Santa
Date: Saturday, December 12, 2026
Time: 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: Park Place at Newtown School
Cost: Free, pre-registration required
This event features food, music, and the opportunity for photographs with Santa. Registration begins on November 1.
North Fulton United
North Fulton United is a unified soccer league located in Johns Creek, providing opportunities for athletes with disabilities to compete alongside their non-disabled peers. The league includes over 100 athletes and unified partners.
