Community Bulletin: Adaptive Kayaking Program
In partnership with Catalyst Sports, an adaptive kayaking program is available to enable individuals to engage in kayaking while enjoying the natural environment. The program emphasizes independence and includes trained instructors certified in ACA Adaptive Paddling, who are equipped to customize kayaks to meet various needs.
The dock facilities feature a ramp, transfer seat, and kayak launch designed to facilitate access to the river.
Participation in the adaptive kayaking program requires adherence to the following ACA Essential Eligibility Criteria for Adaptive Kayaking:
- Paddlers must be able to breathe independently without the aid of medical devices.
- Paddlers must be able to maintain sealed airway passages while underwater.
- Paddlers must be able to hold their head upright without support.
- Paddlers must manage personal care independently or with assistance from a companion.
- Paddlers must manage personal mobility independently or with reasonable assistance.
- Paddlers must be able to follow instructions and communicate effectively, either independently or with assistance from a companion.
