Community Bulletin: Firefly Conservation Event
Roseanne Guerra, a Master Naturalist and Nature Educator, will lead a discussion on the significance of fireflies and the ways in which individuals can create suitable habitats for these insects in their yards.
Georgia is home to over 50 species of fireflies, more than any other U.S. state. However, recent years have seen a decline in their populations due to factors such as light pollution, pesticide use, and habitat loss.
With a background in wildlife education that includes animal rehabilitation and bird demonstrations at Zoo Atlanta, Guerra brings extensive knowledge to this event. She has also led numerous bird walks for the Georgia Audubon Society and various nature centers.
This event aims to raise awareness and promote actions that can help support local firefly populations.
