On April 12, 2026, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., Smyrna Library will host a lecture titled “James Edward Oglethorpe: Georgia’s Founding Father,” as part of the Semiquincentennial events. The lecture will explore the life and contributions of Oglethorpe, who played a significant role in founding Georgia. Light refreshments will be provided. The speaker will be Dr. William Marchione, a historian and author of “A Brief History of Smyrna, Georgia.” This event is sponsored by the Friends of Smyrna Library.
