Bug Fest

Fernbank Museum will host Bug Fest, an event designed to explore the fascinating world of insects through hands-on activities, crafts, and educational experiences. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in science and discovery in a variety of interactive formats.
General admission includes participation, while members of the museum can attend free of charge.

Orkin | Great Hall, 1st Floor & Orkin Discovery Zone, Third Floor
Visitors will partake in a bug-filled scavenger hunt in the Orkin Discovery Zone, searching for fascinating insects throughout the area.
University of Georgia: H.O. Lund Club | Great Hall, 1st Floor
The H.O. Lund Club will present live insects and real specimen collections, providing an engaging experience to explore insect science.
WunderGrubs | Great Hall, 1st Floor
WunderGrubs will demonstrate sustainable insect farming techniques, offering insights into a modular vertical mealworm farm along with by-product displays and manufacturing demonstrations.
Georgia Pest Control Association | Great Hall, 1st Floor
The Georgia Pest Control Association will engage participants with hands-on activities related to insects.
Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This organization will offer activities such as coloring stations and opportunities to observe a real beehive, alongside educational discussions about swarming.
Georgia Department of Agriculture | Great Hall, 1st Floor
Attendees can participate in bug trivia, games, and the chance to meet live insects, including photo opportunities with Randy the Roach.
University of Georgia Center for Urban Agriculture | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This center will present preserved insect specimens and offer a chance to view butterfly wings under a microscope.
University of Georgia Department of Entomology | Great Hall, 1st Floor
Participants will have the opportunity to meet live insects closely and safely handle select specimens in the Bug Zoo.
University of Georgia Urban Entomology Program | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This program will provide guides on common household insect pests to take home.
Georgia Native Plant Society | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This society will lead attendees in exploring the relationships between native insects and plants.
The Three Profiteers | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This group will offer a live presentation featuring a variety of arthropods, showcasing the intriguing aspects of these creatures.
