Community Bulletin: Adaptive Kayaking Program
The adaptive kayaking program, in partnership with Catalyst Sports, provides opportunities for individuals to engage in kayaking while enjoying the natural environment.
Qualified instructors trained in ACA Adaptive Paddling are available to enhance the kayaking experience by adapting equipment to meet various needs. The facility includes a ramp, transfer seat, and kayak launch to assist participants in entering the water.
Participants must meet the following ACA Essential Eligibility Criteria for Adaptive Kayaking:
- Paddlers should be capable of independent breathing without the use of medical devices.
- Paddlers must maintain sealed airway passages while submerged.
- Paddlers should be able to keep their heads upright without neck or head support.
- Paddlers need to manage personal care independently or with assistance from a companion.
- Paddlers must manage personal mobility independently or with reasonable assistance.
- Paddlers should follow instructions and communicate effectively, either independently or with help from a companion.
