Bug Fest

The Bug Fest at Fernbank Museum offers an opportunity to explore the incredible world of insects through hands-on activities, crafts, and educational experiences. Attendees can engage with various scientific and discovery-related activities focused on insects.
This event is included with general admission. Members of the museum may attend free of charge.

Orkin | Great Hall, 1st Floor & Orkin Discovery Zone, Third Floor
Participants can embark on a bug-filled scavenger hunt in the Orkin Discovery Zone, where they will discover fascinating insects.
University of Georgia: H.O Lund Club | Great Hall, 1st Floor
The H.O. Lund Club provides a unique chance to meet live insects and explore real specimen collections while engaging in fun and interactive insect science.
WunderGrubs | Great Hall, 1st Floor
WunderGrubs will demonstrate sustainable insect farming, featuring a live modular vertical mealworm farm, by-product displays, and a mini manufacturing station.
Georgia Pest Control Association | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This organization will offer hands-on activities focused on a variety of insects.
Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association | Great Hall, 1st Floor
Participants can enjoy coloring activities, observe a real hive up close, and learn about swarm identification with the Metro Atlanta Beekeepers Association.
Georgia Department of Agriculture | Great Hall, 1st Floor
The Georgia Department of Agriculture will facilitate bug trivia games and activities, along with opportunities to meet live insects and take a photo with Randy the Roach.
University of Georgia Center for Urban Agriculture | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This program will feature preserved specimens and allow participants to view the intricate patterns of butterfly wings under a microscope.
University of Georgia Department of Entomology | Great Hall, 1st Floor
Participants can meet a variety of live insects in the Bug Zoo, with opportunities to safely hold some specimens.
University of Georgia Urban Entomology Program | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This program will provide a detailed guide on urban insect pests that attendees may encounter in their daily lives.
Georgia Native Plant Society | Great Hall, 1st Floor
Attendees can learn about the relationship between insects and native plants, exploring the role of insects in promoting plant health.
The Three Profiteers | Great Hall, 1st Floor
This group will conduct a live presentation showcasing a variety of arthropods.
