Dinosaur Plaza
Fernbank’s Dinosaur Plaza features a variety of attractions, including ample outdoor space with a fountain, plants, trees, and flowers.
The centerpiece of the plaza is a family of bronze dinosaurs, ready to welcome visitors, particularly families, as they arrive at the museum. These dinosaurs represent a hadrosaur species known as Lophorhothon atopus, which once inhabited the area that is now Georgia.
Fernbank holds the distinction of being the first museum to showcase a display of Lophorhothon atopus. The sculptures are part of an outdoor exhibit that provides information about the dinosaurs, their prehistoric environment, and their inferred behaviors, including the care they exhibited for their young.
